For your SL/IM bookmark for chapters 12-15/13-16, you need to create your own; however, there are some guidelines:
Side 1:
TOP - include the title of the novel and the chapters
MIDDLE - As you read, look for how our vocab words from Unit 5 relate to the text (you are NOT looking for the word, just how certain words could apply) Then write each of the seven words and explain how each one relates
BOTTOM - your name and period number
Side 2:
TOP - a title of two to four words that encompasses all five chapters (must utilize a lit tool or syntactical structure in the title)
MIDDLE - an image (drawn or a graphic) that depicts your title
BOTTOM - 7 lit tools/syntactical structures found in these chapters.
This must be typed (except for the drawing), and should be no bigger than 3.5" by 11"
BE CREATIVE!
YOUR POWERPOINTS ARE ALSO DUE TUESDAY.
You must have one slide for each word, including all of the following:
- the vocabulary word (large)
- part of speech
- a brief definition
- a caption that includes the word and context clues, describing your picture.
Be sure that your slides are pleasing to the eye, the fonts are easy to read, and you use the proper GPS (grammar, punctuation, and spelling).
I'm looking forward to AMAZING presentations! :o)

Homework due Wednesday, 10/19
Read the assigned chapters of SL/IM. Be prepared for an assessment of some kind.
Here are your Unit 5 words. (Click here!) In your vocabulary journals, create a chart including 2 synonyms and 1 antonym for each of the words. Be prepared for a Gladiator Word of the Day check too.
I will collect your 1-4/5 bookmarks--the ones that were due today--at the beginning of class, so put them in the tray as you enter the classroom.
Also, here is your new bookmark; it's due Friday, 10/21.

1) Here's your Unit 4 vocabulary list. (Click here) It is due on Wednesday!
Spread the word. Text your friends. ;o)
(I don't want to hear, "I didn't know!" on Wednesday.)
In your vocabulary journal, write down the roots and their definitions. Then under the roots, write the words from the list, their parts of speech, a brief and concise definition of your own (5 words or less), one synonym and one antonym.
2) Get your copy of The Scarlet Letter or Invisible Man by Wednesday. We will not begin in class, but you will have home learning associated with the book you choose to read.
Remember, get your Reading Plus done too. :0) I will print reports tomorrow morning.
With the exception of comprehension level, our class isn't doing so hot! :o/ Step it up!
